Доц. д-р Явор Йорданов Делчев
Dr. Yavor Jordanov Delchev was a very good scientist, devoted to his work, a man with remarkable intellectual capacity, and a wonderful friend.
He was born on 22 January 1944 in Sofia and was graduated from the Physical Faculty of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridsky" in 1968 with a specialization on Atomic Physics. Since 1968 Y. Delchev had worked for the Institute of Physics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), and since 1972 for the INRNE BAS. In 1979 he defended successfully his PhD thesis under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ivan Zh. Petkov in the same Institute. Dr. Delchev worked consequently as a Research Scientist, Assistant Professor and in 2000 he had been elected as Associate Professor in INRNE BAS.
Dr. Yavor Delchev published more than 60 scientific papers and reports at international conferences. Most of his papers had been published in important international journals in Physics, such as Zeitschrift fur Physik, International Journal of Quantum Chemistry, Progress in Theoretical Chemistry and Physics, Advanced Quantum Chemistry, Journal of Molecular Structure and others.
The main field of activity of Dr.Y. Delchev was the development of theoretical methods for studies in heavy-ion physics, in physics of many-body fermionic systems, such as atoms, molecules and clusters, in the density functional theory, the use of semi-classical approximation, investigations of shell-effects in atoms, molecules and clusters and others. He had scientific collaborations with Prof. Jan Maruani (France), Prof. Bernard Silvi (France), Prof. Steven Wilson (U.K.) and other outstanding physicists.
The results of Dr. Yavor Delchev and collaborators had been reported on international conferences and seminars in Bulgaria, France, Russia, Sweden, England, Spain and others.
The Physics in Bulgaria lost a very good scientist.
The memory of Dr. Yavor Jordanov Delchev and his scientific results will remain.
